Patients are advise to mix granules with food and granules should only be mix with applesauce.
Sergel is a prescription medicine that belongs to a class of medicines called Proton Pump Inhibitors. The Proton pump inhibitors are a group of medicines that significantly reduce stomach acid production. Excess acid production causes diseases related to stomach and intestines. PPIs are use to treat such disorders. This medicine should be taken at least one hour before a meal. Do not crush or chew the capsules.
Sergel strontium is use to treat conditions where there is too much acid in stomach. It is use to treat duodenal and gastric ulcers, erosive esophagitis, gastroesophageal reflux disease and Zollinger Ellison syndrome. Dosage:

Precautions while using Sergel:

The use of Sergel Capsule may change sodium. Use of Sergel resulted in reduced levels of sodium in the blood. The use of this medicine may change magnesium. The use of Sergel Capsule may change vitamin B-12. Use of Sergel may result in a deficiency of vitamin B-12.
The use of Sergel resulted in decreased levels of magnesium in blood which is characterized by severe side-effects. Such as condition marked by muscular spasms, due to malfunctioning of parathyroid glands. Also deficiency of calcium increased and decreased heartbeat and seizures.
Warning:
Patients who are on long-term treatment with omeprazole are at an increased risk. Such patients may suffer from an increased risk of inflammation of the mucous membrane of the stomach. Patients using proton pump inhibitors including Sergel are at an increased risk. Swelling in between kidney tubules may happen during proton pump inhibitors treatment. It is generally associated with a severe allergic reaction without any known cause.
Patients who are using high dose, defined as multiple daily doses and long-term treatment with proton pump inhibitors. Sergel therapy may be associate with an enhance risk for osteoporosis related fractures of spine or wrist. Such patients should use lowest dose and shortest duration of proton pump inhibitors therapy appropriate to suitable condition.
Use of proton pump inhibitors including Sergel may lead to increase risk of development. It may increase skin lesions in sun exposed areas. The patient should seek medical help promptly and discontinue use of Sergel after consultation with health care professional.
Therapy with proton pump inhibitors including Sergel may lead to increased risk of stomach and intestinal infections. Such as infections caused by bacteria Campylobacter and Salmonella. Sergel therapy should be stop temporarily before assessing blood chromogranin A levels. It also consider repeating test if initial blood chromogranin A levels are high.
Interactions with Sergel:
The following medicines may interact when taken together and can cause harmful effects in body. Please consult with your doctor or pharmacist before taking these medicines together.

When should Sergel be not used?
This medicine should not be used in patients who are severely allergic to PPIs. Such patients may see an increased risk of potentially life-threatening allergic reaction. These patients may have the following symptoms if they use this medicine:
- Hives
- Tightening of the airway muscles
- Swelling of the lower layer of the skin
- Swelling in between the kidney tubules
Sergel should not be used in combination with nelfinavir. Decreased levels of nelfinavir in the blood have been seen in patients taking Sergel with nelfinavir.
Safe Disposal of Medication:
- If there are disposal instructions on package, please follow the instructions.
