Eid literally means “festival” or “feast” in Arabic. There are two major eids in Islamic calendar per year. Eid-ul-Fitr earlier in year and Eid-ul-Adha later. Eid-ul-Fitr is an occasion for special prayers, family visits, gift-giving and charity. It takes place over one to three days, beginning on first day of Shawwal, 10th month in Islamic calendar.

Eid-ul-Azha meaning in Arabic is “Festival of Sacrifice”. It also spelled Īd al-Aḍḥā, Īd al-Qurbān, Eid ul Adha or al-Īd al-Kabīr. There are two great Muslim festivals; First is Eid-ul-Fitr and other is Eid-ul-Azha. At Eid-ul-Azha, many Muslims make a special effort to pray and listen to sermon at a mosque. They also wear new clothes, visit family members and friends. It may symbolically sacrifice an animal in an act known as qurbani.

Eid Mubarak that means “Blessed feast or festival’”. The term used by Arab Muslims, as well as Muslims all over the world. Eid-ul-Azha is significant to Muslims today as it reminds them of Ibrahim’s obedience. It prompting them in turn to consider their own obedience to God.
